Firmware 8.31 Rt4 is the latest version of the Sony PlayStation 4 Root/Re-certification tool. Root provides access to various files and folders on your PS4 and Re-certification allows you to run a program that may otherwise be blocked due to firmware updates. As you navigate through these files and folders, select "Update Profile." This will take your PSN ID and automatically input it into the field for "Profile ID" (this is not case sensitive). After this process is complete, enter any password that you want as well as an optional title for this profile (any name will do). If no password was entered during this process, your PSN username will serve as a default one. Navigate to the "Profile" path on your PS4. Here you will find two files, "Update.self" and "Update.pkg." Selecting both of these files will launch the update process for your console. Once this process is complete, select "Rebuild Database" which will rebuild your database on your console. After this process is complete, return to the root/re-certification tool by pressing the Home button on your PS4 controller then selecting the arrow next to it clockwise three times. This will take you back to the main screen of this program where you can select exit or continue by pressing the triangle next to exit or continue respectively. When you select continue, you will be taken to the main page of the tool. Entering navigate (X) will take you to the "Edit Profile" page where you can edit your profile's name, password and optional title. This is where your PSN ID can be input for this profile if one was not input during update. Once complete, select "Rebuild Database." When this process is complete, return to the root/re-certification tool again by holding down the Home button on your PS4 controller and selecting "Back". The process itself for updating for re-certification is fairly straightforward with only a few steps involved. First, update your PS4 to the latest firmware update by going to the system settings and navigating to the "Downloads" menu. From here select "Check for updates." This will take you to a screen with all available updates for your console. Click the square button to the right of this option and follow these steps: 1) Select "Update System Software" 2) Select "Update via Storage Media" 3) Select either PSN or USB 4) Once complete, your PS4 will boot into a new version of itself. After returning from this process, it is recommended that you perform a hard reset on your PS4 which can be done by holding down both the Power and Options buttons for at least 7 seconds. This will clear out all saved data and unblock any applications that may be in conflict with the new update. Firmware 9.50 JPN/EUR (latest) Firmware 9.50 RUS (latest)
